I was very lucky to photograph Hugo twice this year. The first time was for my 2018 Adorable Puppies diary, which he ended up being the cover star of. (I’ll share his second shoot, with the rest of his bulldog pack for my Squishy Face Crew book, very soon.)
At first he was very unsure about my camera but it didn’t take long to win him over with my yummy homemade treats!
My resting bitch face has nothing on Hugo’s resting cranky face.
Oh the hilarity of watching all those puppy rolls run. Day. Made.
Since everything was so new and a little scary for Hugo that day I wasn’t sure how he’d go with the strobe light. But, like the absolute legend that he is, he put his big boy pants on and sat like he’d been doing this modelling thing for years.
I posted a digital flip through of the 8×8″ album his owner bought on my Instagram. You can check it out here.
She sent me the most lovely testimonial afterwards …
“I first tasked Ruth with capturing my little puppy Hugo as part of her Puppy Diary project. We met in the East where Hugo was first introduced to sand, sea, Ruth and her camera. It was a daunting experience for the little man but by the end of this session and by the time of Hugo’s next session scheduled with his older brother and sister, this little model extraordinaire was giving his siblings tips. All thanks to Ruth and her coaching and guidance Hugo was no longer a camera shy little puppy but instead a confident model – perhaps a little too confident at times. With all of the amazing images which were captured that day, the only problem I had was narrowing it down to 15. Luckily, Ruth not only guided Hugo, but she also provided me with invaluable guidance and assistance. Ruth was a pleasure to work with.
You were fantastic and I can’t thank you enough. You are my first and only reference to my friends who have pets.”
